The Cavlier King Charles Spaniel is a wonderful dog. It is like having a lab or golden, but in a small dog body. They are wonderful companion dogs! Cavaliers do well with people of all ages, homes of all sizes, and other pets.

The grooming on this breed consist of daily brushing and regular bathing with hair blown dry. They do shed.

As with any breed, there are health issues. The things to take note of with this breed are eye, heart, hip, and SM. There are yearly tests for the eyes and hearts. Please make sure your breeder provides you with current documentation of this testing. Sending off a simple x-ray to OFA at the age of 2 years will certify your dog's hips for life. SM is our current "unknown". There is no definitive way to test for it or prevent it. Several studies at universities such as North Carolina State and Ohio State are ongoing.

Cavaliers are very social and love being with other people and dogs. It is recommended that puppies be in a puppy obedience and socialization class as soon as all shots have been received.  Cavaliers have been trained in obedience, agility, flyball, as well as therapy dog work. While they enjoy being active with you, they also love to be cuddled on the couch or underneath the bed linens!
